Castle Mountains, Alberta, Canada
With Andreas and me in Canada we're once united with our group. Actually both groups are at the same place, Castle Mountains just 2-3 hr drive south from Calgary (just off from Pincher Creek). The others have been here some days already.Today was my first skiing day in Canada and guess what? It snowed and snowed and we got to get the best skiing so far this season. We asked for snow in Switzerland and didn't get it, and here it just snows and snows. We flew from Zürich to Oslo on Tuesday afternoon and took the 6:35 am plane from Oslo to Frankfurt a.M. on the following day. The plane was late though due to thunder storms in Frankfurt causing us to have shortage of time in Frankfurt so we had to run down the hallway to catch our plane to Montreal. Our luggage failed to keep up with us though, so we told the luggage claim in Montreal as we had to run and catch the plane to Calgary. It took 8 hours to get to Canada and even 5 more to get to Calgary. Yeah yeah, I know what you are thinking, being the 2nd biggest country in the world it should take a while. I was more surprised of the landscape though. Looking all flat all the way to Calgary and not much snow. Actually in Calgary there ain't any snow at all. We're planning leave this skiing resort we are at now on Saturday and spend the day in Calgary and maybe shop around at MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op) and then head towards Lake Louise as our avalanche course with Yamnusca is starting on Monday.
